Mary Andonian

Howdy, I am Mary Andonian! I starred in the school plays and majored in theater before changing my college degree to Economics. (MBA after that.) I sold sales and leadership training to corporations before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Then I wrote a middle grade book, BITSY’S LABYRINTH, that was optioned for film. I adapted it into a screenplay. It never got made, but continues to attract interest.

I wrote four other feature length scripts, and co-wrote one that almost got made before the pandemic. (We needed 100 cult followers in one warehouse…thanks, Covid.) I was also involved with the Willamette Writers association and annual conference in Portland, OR, serving on their board, and bringing in “Talent” (lit and film agents, producers, and managers) to take pitches.

I also taught Conference Success Basics every year, which included teaching the newbies how to pitch their book or screenplay to the Talent. Very gratifying! I volunteered at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility for six years (the only female prison in Oregon), and was also a hospice volunteer for two years. Moved to Phoenix in May 2021, and last year took a class in Stand-Up comedy, resulting in getting booked for a gig the following month. YAY! This year is about honing that craft because it was wildly addictive and fun! I also took an improv class, which was exhilarating.
